if you still have the 360 block i would use that and put the 428 crank in it. this will give you 410 ci. you get the torque of the 428 and the economy of the 390. you wont do much better than that if at all. remember you are oulling around a lot of weight and you need the low end torque to do that even though you are not towing. just be conservative with cam, intake and carb choice and you will do ok. sell the 428 block to someone who is building a hot FE powered car. my old F-250 got 20 mpg but it was powered by a diesel engine. i dont recomend you swap though as the diesel was quite loud. in fact at 70 it was hard to even hear myself think!! |
