Your 70's F100 is a heavy truck. A six banger probably won't get more than 16 to 18. I'd either redone the 351C and might squeeze 15 MPG highway and if you're lucky 13 in town. A 302 might get a few MPG more. Just face it, what ever you put it, it all ready has a load to haul! Maybe the price you get for the 428 could pay for most of the rebuild and/or 302 swap. MY 67 has a 352 (got 10 to 12) Some years later I put a stock 410 in (got 10 to 15) and Faired alitte better on the highway with the 4100 vs. the 2100. Yes, I liked the extra torque of the 410, but to build one would be costly with little gain in MPG. |
