Your misfiring sounds ignition related. I was recently reminded that spark plugs can cause this type of problem (ceramic fouling), but so can leaky plug wires, dirty dist cap internals, a bad coil, a bad condenser, or too big a coil used with the stock ballast (coil primary voltage drops well below 5 volts).
To find the source of your miss, I'd focus on the high voltage.
