The head is iron, the block is iron. I doubt the head gasket can tell which side is which.

All you gotta worry about on the head gasket is that the large water opening is in the rear and the teeny one is up front, and that the "dowel holes" line up.

There is no such thing as a passenger-side and a drivers-side head gasket for the FE. They all work on any side.
