That's what I've heard too. And I thought the same thing when I've looked at some of the 5.0 after market head combustion chambers.
I got very lucky on these heads. I bought these COAE-Ds from a neighbor who'd had them for years. NOS in the box. One box had never been opened. Good neighbor. He also sold me a standard bore C3AE 427 block and a C5AE - $ steel side oiler crank. A package deal!
From what I've read, pure to nearly pure stock HP 352s & 390s would run mid 14s right off the dealer floors. I've got an article where all a guy did to a 401 horse '61 Starliner was bolt on a set of Bellanger headers, fine tune it as per Les Ritchey's instructions, spring clamps & extended pinion snubber. Ran low 13's in low 100's with three on the tree! On Atlas butryl(sp?) bias ply 7.10 X15 tires. That ain't bad. |
