Exhaust manifolds - Gasket or no gasket?
By holliday - 09/24/2002 11:47:13 PM; IP 64.12.96.76
I have removed the exhaust manifolds from the 428 and have had them planed as much as possible, but there is some minor pitting on the tops of a few of the ports. I have had very strong recommendations from experienced people who say to use exhaust manifold gaskets and to NOT use manifold gaskets. What is the downside to using them? Should I just use some high temp copper gasket maker? I have a set of FelPro gaskets that will fit the 428 manifolds. I really want to lose the exhaust leaks and don't want to do this job again so any help is greatly appreciated in getting these manifolds to seal!
