Been there too. The 63 long manifolds are made for the old style non-pop top starter with the drive (bendix) on the end of the shaft. Your friend will find that even a short stud might not be enough. I like the idea of using the 400/351M type starter with the tab. Another way I have heard is to open up the back of the bell housing to clear the old style bendix. Good Luck! I have been told that the 65 and up long manifolds are made for the new pop-top style starter. |
