Hey Curt this sounds like a great plan! In my opinion one of the best '60 FoMoCo bodies(come to think of it, I liked them all - even Mustangs!) with a perfect engine/powertrain combo. The 3.50s with your C-6 will be ideal for street and occasional strip. Ford found the 3.50 to be an all around gear set for the standard CJ packages of '68-'70.

You didn't mention tourque convertor and I think it will be important to match the cam you select with the convertor. The wilder the cam the higher stall convertor will be needed.

I've said it before and here goes again, cam selection can be emotional and highly opinionated based on lots of variables. Based on what you're saying your intended use will be, be sane. Don't be going for the big lope.

I still really like the C6OZ-6250-B that was stock with '67 428 PI & Shelby GT500, '66-'68 390GT, and our vaunted 428 Cobra Jet but great(I still can't bring myself to say the CJ was standard) and super CJ. I know Royce will not support this shaft but I'm still thinking about your intended usage. Why not a repro of this cam which Comp and Crane grind with a set of Edelbrock's antipump-up lifters and regular adjustable rockers? I speculate that these lifters and adjustables would allow you to make horsepower to 5,800-5,900 rpm with the smooth old C6OZ-B. I can't help it! I always recommend this old smoothy.

I ran the one cam Ford still offers for the FE through there current Off road parts program or whatever it's called now? I don't have the number handy but your Ford parts counter guy will have it. SVO? SVT? Mustang Cobras Be Us? But anyway this cam worked very well in a 428CJ I ran in a Galaxie and an F100. It would pull hard right to 5,900 but was done and over at 6,000. This with their recommended lifters and my preferred regular B8 adjustable rockers.

I also think a nice solid lifter shaft still is a great way to go. All of the FE grinders provide them. Comp has a 282S that is my current choice but it's still not running. So no advice/opinion on that until.....I hope this spring.

And I'd like to hear more facts based on experience with the Edelbrock RPM cam. It looks serious on paper but how does it really work in a well put together coordinated package?
