I couldn't agree with Gerry more.
Personal experience with B-W T-10s...all bad. First one I had was stock in a '62 Galaxie 390/401(an early production HP390!!). This car had been run hard and put away wet countless times by the time I bought it off of Sandy Blvd., Portland OR, '67. For the measly price I bought it for I didn't expect a sweet running '62. But it actually turned out fine with exception of the T-10. It would grind into second nearly every shift. Then I had a '63 Sprint family mobile in the seventies. Again the T-10 was a regular grinder into 2nd. Not one to learn too quickly I picked up a '64 'lane/289/T-10. Great car except .... you guessed it! The T-10 was a pain. Even had it completely pro rebuilt and it only took a couple of power shifts and it was right back to where my other T-10s were.... grinders.
I've had a few toploaders. Never a bad one in the bunch.
Please just shop and get a correct toploader for your 390 Mustang. |
