If you are really considering a swap like this there are kits for totally replacing the shock towers and using a Mustang II type front suspension. They cost a couple thousand or so plus installation. Don't know if you want to go that far, but I think you would have plenty of room then. You can look at one at www.rcmotorsports.net.
