All the aftermarket O.E. service pushrod prints we (Federal-Mogul) have on file for the FE specify a mild steel hollow tube with weld on or press in ends. The high performance parts are chrome-moly.

I have a set of O.E. pushrods for a 427, with stamped Ford logo, that appear to be forged as a solid piece (parting line running along the length of the pushrod). I kept them because they were so unusual,
