RE: Why not add lock nuts?

I bought the car recently and the engine is in pretty good shape. The oil plug that covers the rear of the cam had come out and was leaking lots of oil so I had to pull the engine. The lifters were making noise so I was going to change them while the engine was out. I now suspect that the lifters were not bad just missadjusted. I will look into getting locking nuts or replacements.

I don't know if the spings are stock or not. Is there any way to tell?

Thanks for all the help.
