I've got a bit of improvement by advancing the timing til preignition, then retard it a bit. But it is a boat, isn't it? I replaced the points and got a Pertronix insert. Mine is all stock too but I can still light up the tires off the line and get the odd 2nd gear change chirp. Then I spend the rest of the night enduring glares from "she who must be obeyed"......
