RE: Valve train noise |

probably no one will agree but here goes, the rocker shafts, rockers, and valves as well as the head are made of iron or steel. however, the pedestels are aluminium. aluminium expands roughly three times as fast as steel as well as cast iron.so the rocker shaft ends up moving farther away from the head, opening up the valve lash.this increase of lash causes the exessive noise that u have described.in my own experience,i have found that i could safely reduce valve lash(measured cold)up to.004 under what was specified without danger of dameging anything.hope this helps. |
