Installing new lifters..

My 410 hasn'nt been started in about 1½ month, and now I'm going to change the hydraulic lifters. What should I keep in mind when installing the new ones?Is there anything critical that should be done before installation/starting the motor?I am not replacing the cams, is that a problem? Some ppl say it's important that you soak the new lifters in oil and pump a few times, when others say that it's better no to!?
Should the lifter pre-load allso be checked in my case?

thnx a 1000!
