Phil, 428 pistons have shorter compression height to work with the longer stroke 428 crank.For a given block deck height if you increase the stroke you either have to make the rod or the piston comp. height shorter in this instance ford made the piston pin hole to top distance shorter.428 pistons would be approx. .090 down the hole which would probably allow you to burn kerosene in the engine.
