Usually the lifters are replaced with the cam as one unit due to the fact that each lifter/camlobe will break in together during the first half-hour of operation and replacing just the lifters may not last too long. However, it has been done with OK results even if it's not recommended. If you decide to do so you can use a regular oil-squirt can and with the tip of the can inject oil into the lifters little entry-hole as well as oiling the entire outside before installation.
