Also I have the stock stall convertor is that ok

Stock convertor is what I plan on keeping. The build is basic. 390 with headers and performer manifold and holley 650. I am looking for a cam that will give me more torque because I dont want to go over 5000-5500 rpms. The rear end gear is a 390 something. So I would like to know if this 270H will make it snappier and not slower than it is now, or should I go to a milder cam from 800 rpm to 5500 area.
