Not having run this cam I don't believe I should be offering opinionated advice without some basis in facts. Over the years there has been some posters-advisors who have run Crane Roller cams. That's why posting the specs my help get some advice.
I do remember that Hot Rod article from a year ago. It was great to see an FE being built in such a prestigous magazine. I'm going from memory but it seems that HR was attempting to build an FE in a reasonably mild/streetable configuration.
Have you talked directly with Crane on their tech line or even by e-mail? I know that the major cam grinders like Crane & Comp are very concerned about customer cam selection. I would advice you to phone or e-mail them explaining exactly what you're building.
