I agree. As long as you have sufficent cooling don't worry about it. Now on the roller cam statement. It doesn't matter if you have a non-roller, a solid roller or a hyd roller cam. That has NO affect on if you have a lopy idle and or low vaccum. The lope & vaccum are determined by the grind/profile of the cam or the cam specs. The roller cams will allow you to run a more radical grind than a flat tappet cam will and will also allow you to go a little further on the cam grind & still give you good vaccum than a flat tappet would with a simmilar profile. Also roller cams are very pricy. I was thinking of installing a hyd roller cam in my 390 but oppted for a flat tappet mainly due to cost. It was going to run between $800 to $1000 to get a hyd roller cam set up for a FE. What you need to do is to talk to the cam tech of the company you are looking to buy the cam from. I was planning on getting the hyd roller cam, what I was going to do was get the hyd roller lifters from Crane (because as far as I know they were the only ones that offered a hyd roller lifter that I knew of. And I found out something interesting, the roller lifters are the same for the 385 series 429/460 ) Then I was going to go to Comp to have them grind me a roller cam to suit my application. |
