This is a question to ask for opinions on options for restoring an extensively rusted car.It is a 1964 galaxie 500 R-code 427 car. The car is mostly complete with the exception of the original longblock, the main body shell will require major rust repair ie.the roof, quarters, rockers, kick panel area, floor pans and trunk all needing repair to some extent. The rest of the body panels including the original doors being in suprisingly good condition. The original frame including the rearend, suspension, transmission, clutch parts, transistor ignition, high oil temp warning system, shifter are all present and restorable. The question is for the main body shell.I have seen a 64 body that is advertised as a body in white that was supplied to one of the racing teams back in the day and never used.It has no VIN stamped on the tags and has never been assembled as a complete car.Would it be acceptable to use that body as a replacement shell for my car?The other option would be to replace just about every major portion of the body except for the cowl firewall area. What are some opinions on the ethics of both options? Thanks
