The owner says: "Although the option price of the 427-8V is listed as $1,129.35, it is interesting to note that in order to get the 427 engine, one had to first purchase the 289-2V BASE engine for $105.63. "In addition, since the 4-speed transmision was a mandatory option at $184.02, the total cost for the 427-8V engine was really $1,419. "This was a staggering sum in 1967 considering that the base price of the entire car was only $2,439.14! "
