RE: Are the 68 mustang GT 390 heads identical?

the frount of engine water pasage is blocked off. the water pasage opening is open at the back of the block. some gaskets are marked frount some are not,some gaskets have the same finish look, to both sides and some do not, the ones that do not, one gasket will look upsidedown but will be corect. just remember the waterpasage opening at the back of the block [must] be open to the head and the frount waterpasage [must] be blocked off by the head gasket.if thear instaled wroung the water will just flow infrount and not flow back through the head and through side of the block to the water pump.
