Engine Runs On ...

A new problem happened today. My 428 with dual Holley's decided to run on after I switched the engine off. The engine did in fact stop, then start again for a few seconds. It may even have run backwards, but am not sure. A small puff of what looked like exhaust came up through the hood scoop. This happened twice in a row, but engine works perfectly between these two times while driving. Any ideas?
