Jerry, The PI intake is about the best you can get. It doesnt cost you any low end {I've clocked it vs the stock iron lowrise) and they are great on top, see the old Ford Muscle Parts books - still hard to beat. We ran both the GT/CJ cam, c6oz-b and the c8ax-c cam (same grind as the 429 CJ), either one would be good in a Fairlane and idle is ok, a litle "lump" with the c8ax-c. Add the CJ valves to those c6ae-r heads and clean the exhaust ports out. Obviously run headers if you can, the stock manifolds will cost you about 20hp.
The best way to add power is still to add inches - see how thick your walls are - can you bore it and make a 428? Much better to start with that if the block is thick enough.
For a solid cam in the Fairlaine, the COmp 282S would be good but then it wont sound stock any more.
Even at 9.5 CR or so for pump gas you should make 380-410hp if you do this stuff, good luck. |
