To my knowledge the 390 was overrated at 335 hp and the 428 was grossly underrated.The 390 in old mags were being dynoe'd at about 275 hp.The 390 is still a great engine just needed a little tinkering to get it up to and well over 300 hp.Mine with just a few bolt on factory parts dynoe'd at 380 hp.
