envy of those manufacturers who can actually produce and deliver a car on time, on budget and working. Shelby has tried to produce his own versions, and has had nothing but problems and delays. This had made the competitor in him mad and so he flails out at those who daily demonstrate that they CAN do it better, using his own design.
He wants to force bad quality down enthusiasts throats at exhorbiant (sp?) prices. He thinks this is still the 60's, that he can be an American Ferrari and ship cars to the penis-shy that don't run, don't keep water out and last all of 5,000 before needing a major overhaul.
I understand that if you buy one of his blocks, that it will need in the neighborhood of $1,500 of machining/rework to make usable; I KNOW that he has delivered his rocker systems mis-assembled, that he has shipped 'new' oil pumps with 'bad spring' still written in marker on the bottoms, and doesn't make what he says he will.
The guy is a salesman, not a producer. He should let the doers make his cars and just collect some sort of royalty on their fine work instead of whining about how they're ruining the market for HIS crappy product. |
