I have a set of the long tube cast iron headers I'm putting on a 428 in a 69 truck. I figured that the flat mating surface to the head will avoid the leaks, thermo coating them inside and out to cut engine compartment temp as well as having a tri-y tpe header was worth the extra pounds. The 406 short tube headers sound more like they would fit your needs better, they don't hang much lower then the top of the starter motor.
