Ford Owns the COBRA Name

Shelby sold the COBRA name to Ford after original Cobra production ceased in 1967. Since then numerous Ford vehicles and engines have carried the name.

You may be thinking of the G.T. 350 designation. Shelby still technically owns that and when Ford put it on its "20th Anniversary" Mustangs in '84 there was a big stink. I think that was settled by Ford licensing the name from Shelby.
