Even the aluminum-bodied version of the '65 VIN cars he's selling is made by a Polish kit company. There was nothing stored away in some dusty warehouse. These are new cars with old paperwork.
And I'd like an updated definition of 'kit' car. We can buy preassembled 'Cobras' from ERA and FFR and Shelby himself, all of whom follow the big 3's manufacturing model of designing and outsourcing part production (foraging) with final assembly and sales happening in-house. Instead of 'kit' manufacturers, aren't they really simply 'low-volume' manufacturers?
Shelby is just p.o'ed that Saleen, FFR and ERA can produce their cars better, more efficiently and at a lower price-point than he can. |
