RE: FE 5 speed |

the borg warner t5 and tremec transmissions are for 5.0 application, which is to say, small block. if you had a 302, you'd be done already. You face two problems with the input shaft of the five speed: 1) the input shaft is longer on the 5-speed than a toploader 2) the input shaft is smaller diameter than a toploader for FE would have.
Mcleod sells a spacer plate; mine took several sessions with the dremel to fit properly. that solves problem 1.
If you do indeed have all the clutch bits for FE in a galaxie, bravo. You need to somehow sleeve the big block throwout bearing to fit the smaller shaft of the 5-speed.
If all you have is a pedal setup and a bellhousing, go with the Mcleod hydraulic throwout bearing and eliminate the z-bar and bellcrank altogether.
that solves problem 2 of the input end.
As for the output end, the 5-speed uses a 5.0 speedo driven gear on your stock galaxie 4-speed speedo cable. Plenty of places sell early mustang trans mounts; perhaps you can use one as a reference and modify your existing trans mount. I cant remember where I read it, but a c6 xmember from a '66 galaxie might not be a bad starting point. I cant help you with driveshaft yet as Im not that far in my conversion :)
