I think your right the Nascar, drag racing, and road races provided FORD had a clear advanage. The lack of sponsorship by fords top brass gave the advanage back to the competition. Which is evident to in NHRA Pro Stock today. But, I think ford rules in the mountain motors of the IHRA. And I think the SOHC with the huffer on it ruled TOP Fuel in mid 60s and again FORD lack of support and development kill that monster. And last the only thing that hurt the big FORDs of the early 60s was weight. These cars were built to last and not the tin cans of the competition. That's my opinion, but I have tunnel vision and Love 60s Ford race cars... |
