There is little difference.
Some of the later 390 "truck" engines used a thicker cylinder walled block. The heads are functionally the same car and truck from the late 60's on.
What year 390 engine do you have?
I would assume that you are going to freshen the engine up to some degree? Maybe add a good intake, cam, carb etc.?
