I have a 1965 production year 390 rebuilt to be put in a 67 cougar. Looking to get exhaust manifolds but am told I have the wrong heads. I was told the 67 "S" 390 has a "GT" style head allowing for a exhaust manifold that is designed to work without hitting the shock towers and that the 390 I have which I think might be the "P" model with the bolt holes for the exhaust manifolds above and below the ports won't allow exhaust manifolds that fit. Today a local shop told me I might get by with some sort of truck manifold and custom bent pipes. What might work, or do I have to change the heads? |
