headers

I used Hooker SuperComp headers on my '66 galaxie 428 4spd. Hooker's footnotes say they won't fit, but with some minor mods they will. I moved the throwout return spring from the front crossmember over to the steering box and made a few small dents in the tubes where the Z-bar arm and throw out rod meet. The Z-bar fit through the headers ok because the auto column linkage goes through in the same place. I have since got a set of original cast headers and am going to put them on over the winter, hopefully. I paid about $330 for the Hookers and about $450 for the cast units. The cast units are VERY hard to come by and weigh about 28# each.Hope this helps.
