Attention to detail and prior planning will insure success. 390s are workhorses. Tough to kill. As recommended earlier, good machining is important, as well as upgrading the oil system. Boss 302 oil systems were modified with a line plumbed externally off an oil filter adapter or oil pressure sending unit to the oil galleries at the back of the block. I'm looking into that for the FE now. Doesn't appear hard to do. Buy the best quality parts you can afford, but plan a "package". Stay tuned to hear what works and what doesn't in this forum. The 428 crank, aftermarket intake, my favorite "Torque-Plus" intake manifold gaskets, windage tray, good rocker shafts and supports, headers, will all add reliability and power. Beware of gimicks or things you don't need at this stage of the build-up. Good Luck!
And Stanley and T-Bolt need to find another forum for their bickering. We are here to support our fellow enthusiasts, no matter our differences, and you owe us an apology. Aloha |
