I suspect this is an argument that will go on and on until some one discoveres a long forgotten memo from the chief engineer stating, " . . . "
Anyway, I've always been confused when people refer to their engines in generic terms, i.e. "small blcok" "big block" "hemi" etc. because the terms mean different things to different people, and REALLY mean different things to different manufacturers. So when people starting using the generic terms my eyes glaze over, my mind goes blank, and my jaw goes slack (That also happens when I have sex, but that's another issue :-) )
I'm not sure of what this fondness is for the generic terms, but I've always found it is a lot easier to simply use the engine displacment, then everyone is singing from the same hymnal.
