Carborator questions/ Crankcase ventilation woes |

I have a 1962 galaxie 500 with 352 2V. I rebuilt it this past summer and I have some questions concerning carborator ajustment. It seems the car runs a little rich(strong exaust smell). The automatic choke is set perfect and opens fully once engine heats. My main question I guess would be, is their any other way to make car run a little leaner? I feel maybe combustion is not what it could be. I was wandering if some of you could give me some tips on leaning out the engine like it's supposed to be. One more thing off the subject. It also seems I'm getting some engine crankcase vent gases in the cab while driving. I have the old road draft type ventilation system(which I cleaned when rebuilding engine). I have new dual exaust, new gaskets, etc. I was wondering if the cowl lacing could be to blame. It is old and hardened. I believe the little bit I smell could be slipping past this and into the fresh air intake. Suggestions please. Thanks so much! Rod |
