question on crankshaft

Ok here we go.I bought a 69 mach1 r-code and in tearing the motor down to my surprise i found a 390 servise crank in it stamped 3U. My question is why would you put this crank in it. The block,connecting rods,and heads are 428cj parts no doubt about it.What would this do to the motor besides lose some stroke.And what would the compression be now.I cannot ask the person who owed it because he passed away and i bought it from his family. Should i just buy a 428cj crank and put that in.Thanks for any help you can offer.
