Countr rotating engine are no myth.
Most if not all twin engine boats used one standard and one counter rotation engine. These were a P.I.A. to identify and work on until you got used to them.
On the counter rotation engines the cam and distributor gears were opposite of standard, As well as the starter and altertnators. The fine grooves in the rear main oil seal were also in the opposite direction which caused a lot of oil leaks to the poor guys using marine cranks in their cars.
