RE: 390 - Timing Chain By Mel Clark - 10/16/2001 4:03:13 PM; IP 152.163.207.196 The original Ford chain uses a plastic gear, you can get a standard type of gear in all steel/cast iron. I think most would reccommend using the double roller type. Never reuse the old timing chain.
