Which One FMX or C6

I have a 1966 F100 wich originally came with 3-on the -tree, and now I want an automatic to put in it. Of course it has an FE engine, thats why i am posting the question here...
I heard the FMX was stronger than the C6 and also heavier. Either way I just want to know what to look for in the junkyard that will bolt up to the block..
Did they make a C4 that would bolt up?
