Those pollution tubes inject air into the exhaust to oxidize any unburned hydrocarbon molecules in the exhaust stream. They inject air pumped by the air pump. There is absolutely no effect on the performance of the engine or transmission. All the action is happening downstream of the exhaust valves. The only effect on performance is the approximately one horse power loss to turn the pump. Any leakage of the tubes just means your exhaust is slightly dirtier due to the injected air being lost to the atmosphere. |
