i woud start with 10 degrees initial and 36-38 total timing. this does not include vacuum advance. i would also have the total mech timing in by 2500 -2800 rpm.
you shouldnt have any detonation problems. if you do then back the timing off 2 degrees. that should cure it although better would be going up a grade of fuel.
