Chuck,

They sound like early 1967 valve covers. All the later 1967 and all 1968 Mustang FE's received the chrome "Power by Ford" valve covers. This includes 390 4V GT, 428 CJ. The X code cars recieved the same "Power by Ford" valve cover but it was blue painted.
