...that this is the original engine. 30-90 days lead time for engine assemblies were the norm back in those days, meaning vehicle build date is that much behind the block casting date. Being a Shelby, I am sure it was normal for them to sit around longer awaiting conversion.
To really verify, you need to look at the block's left rear face, between the trans mount and the deck. There you will find a partial VIN consisting of the first two and last six digits of the VIN of the vehicle where the engine was initially installed (i.e., 9T123456). If there is no VIN stamped on the block, it is likely a service replacement.
