I shipped one of my 427's (short block) last June from Owasso, Oklahoma to Long Beach, CA on Roadway Express. Terminal to terminal cost $175.00 insured for $5000.00. The secret is to not have them pick it up at your house, that basically doubles the rate. Show up at the truck depot, they have a fork lift to take it out of your pickup with. Build your own crate, mine took half a day and $50.00 worth of materials.
