I am getting around 8 mpg now on the highway. I want to get around 12 or 14 at least. I dont think this is asking too much.
It has an original cast iron 4V intake with a Holley carb. I am not sure which CFM it is. The cam is a stock profile cam. This 428 is not a high performance engine. You are right about the torque it has for pulling. I still want better highway performance. Is it possible to get more performance and not get worse gas mileage?
This engine has been rebuilt and has around 15K miles since then. It has the dished pistons with 4 valve relief pistons and is bored to .030 oversize.
It uses no oil at all. I mean the thing is full of oil every time I check it. I have people watch while I start it and there isn't even any smoke during a cold start. |
