Thanks CincyEd. I remember the first time I saw a set. I couldn't believe that "figure 8" style combustion chamber. The guy that owned 'em was thinking about working them for a 428CJ bracket mill. He was guesstimating the C-ratio to be well over 12.5:1. He never did it. But I did talk with a guy on the phone last year from LA who is running a set on a '27 sideoiler in a '69 'stang. He loved 'em. Liked is power proven ETs better than the Edelbrocks he had been running. Not knockin' Edelbrocks, I want to run a set on a engine "in the works".
All I did to mine was install 1.66 exhaust valves and do a little bowl work to help take advantage of the larger CJ/LR ex. valve. My head machinist man said there really wasn't enough room to go with a 2.09 intake. I felt badly enough about cutting a set of NOS D-heads up as it was. But then I remembered....will I really give a s%#@ in 30 or 40 years? |
