According to Shelby American, some mid 67 GT500's had 390's because Ford ran out of 428's. The engine in my 67 is a 390 and is suppose to be original. I am not so sure. Is this info true and if so how can I tell if mine is the correct engine. My Shelby is #1165 and the Ford Vin # 7R02Q174593. The Q is for 428 but its said that they left San Jose all stamped with Q although some ended up with 390's. Also the only number stamped on the block is on the left front side below the head. The number is 4L25-L. Any help is greatly appreciated.
